A honeyeater, the Noisy Miner's closest relatives are the Yellow-throated Miner and the Black-eared Miner.

Noisy Miners are aggressive birds, so much so that ornithologist Graham Pizzey recommended that if you are contemplating establishing a bird garden and Noisy Miners exist nearby, consider living somewhere else to do it.*
